Hyderabad: In a significant boost to the city’s startup ecosystem, Draper Startup Hub Hyderabad has announced plans to invest in 20 early-stage startups with funding ticket sizes ranging from Rs50 lakh to Rs50 crore, marking its transition from a co-working community into a structured startup accelerator and investment platform.
The hub, developed in partnership with Draper University and backed by the global venture network founded by Silicon Valley investor Tim Draper, unveiled its new strategy at an event attended by startup founders and ecosystem stakeholders in Hyderabad.
With the shift, Draper Startup Hub is moving beyond its earlier co-working and co-living model to focus on identifying, mentoring and investing in promising founders. The initiative aims to strengthen the early-stage capital pipeline in the city.
Speaking at the announcement, co-founders Chaitanya, Sai Krishna and Deepika said the transition represents a major step in supporting emerging entrepreneurs. “We are moving beyond community building into structured acceleration. Draper Startup Hub will now actively identify, mentor and invest in promising early-stage founders,” they said.
Originally launched as part of the global Draper Startup House network, the Hyderabad centre had functioned primarily as a collaborative space for entrepreneurs. With its transformation into Draper Startup Hub, the centre will now operate as a capital-backed accelerator while continuing to support community initiatives.
The hub operates within the broader Draper ecosystem founded by Tim Draper, whose early investments include companies such as Tesla, Skype, Coinbase, Robinhood, Baidu and SpaceX. Startups emerging from the Hyderabad hub are expected to gain access to this global network of investors and mentors.
As part of its acceleration initiatives, the hub also announced the second edition of the 12-Day Draper Founders Program, scheduled for April. The residential accelerator programme will select high-potential founders through a multi-stage screening process and offer immersive training, mentorship, investor access and exposure to global startup ecosystems.
Business leader and innovation ecosystem architect Ajit Rangnekar said that while Bengaluru’s startup ecosystem developed organically over several decades, Hyderabad is now consciously building structured innovation infrastructure.
Mentor and advisor Viiveck Verma noted that the city is at an inflection point in its entrepreneurial journey.
